Career and experience
Adrian Rappold supports clients primarily in the field of trademark law, design law, and contract law, as well as in other aspects of intellectual property law. He has many years of extensive experience in these sectors, with particular expertise in developing trademark strategies and providing advice in conflicts and negotiations. He represents domestic and foreign clients before the Swiss and international IP authorities. To assert the national and international interests of these clients, he is in contact with trademark and design experts across the world.
Adrian Rappold has worked for Troesch Scheidegger Werner AG since August 1999 and became a partner in 2004. He has been a founding member, co-owner and partner of Swiss IP Partners Holding AG since 2013.
As a student at the University of Bern, Adrian Rappold already attended courses in intellectual property law and competition law, but it was not until he started to have direct contact with companies during his time as a recovery specialist at a bank that he learned more about the significant and personal value of protected trademarks and designs in practice.
When he was offered the opportunity to succeed the late Dr. Hans Scheidegger at Troesch Scheidegger Werner AG, and given his particular enthusiasm for language and graphical creativity, a fulfilling career path opened up before him.
Adrian Rappold obtained his licentiate of law (lic. iur.) in 1993 at the University of Bern. He then gained experience in several areas of law (contract law, corporate law, competition law, advertising law, and administrative law) through his work at the District Court of Meilen/Zurich (1993-1994) and in a renowned law firm in Zurich (1994-1996). He subsequently worked as a specialist for non-performing loans to corporate and individual clients at a major Swiss bank (1996-1999). Since joining Troesch Scheidegger Werner AG, he has regularly added to his expertise by participating in training courses and seminars at home and abroad.
